The Host by Stephenie Meyer...I'm Confused *SPOILERS*?

Wanderer is the name given to the soul that is implanted into Melanie's body. She is using Mel's body for everything she does because that is her host. It's not that she is trying to change Mel's mind, it's more like she just trying to silence it into oblivion. but Melanie is too strong to be pished away so Wanderer and Melanie have to just acknowledge each other instead. There is never a part od the book were it is truly Mel's point of view, but she does have convesations with Wanda, expressing her wishes or serious problem she has. Melanie does have a voice in the book, not just appearing in past memories.
