Why did Gavin Rossdale (sp?) from Bush decide to just quit making music?

I used to (actually, still do) love the group 'Bush'. I find it somewhat puzzling that the lead singer just seemed to disappear completely from the music scene. I know he is married to Gwen Stefani, but it seems strange that he would just walk away from the industry like that. Are there any fans out there that know what might have caused him to do so? Any info is appreciated. Every time I hear a great song from them (Bush), I can't help but wonder how he (or the whole band) could just give it up.
